National Mourning Leads to Rescheduling in Vietnamese Football

On May 22, 2025, the Organizing Committee of the National Professional Football Tournaments (BTC Giải) officially announced changes to the match schedules of the LPBank V.League 2024/25 and the Bia Sao Vàng First Division 2024/25. This adjustment is made in observance of the national mourning period for former President Trần Đức Lương, who served as a member of the Politburo and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The national mourning will take place from May 24 to 25, 2025, during which all public activities, including football matches, are paused.

Accordingly, Round 24 and the makeup match for Round 23 of the V.League, along with Round 20 of the First Division, have been rescheduled. The updated match dates ensure respect for the national occasion while allowing the competitions to continue without long-term disruption. All football clubs, local organizing committees, and involved departments are instructed to cooperate and align with the newly issued schedules for smooth operations.

Football Governance Responds Respectfully to National Events

The Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has taken a respectful and organized approach in response to the national event. Adjustments to the schedule reflect the integration of sports with broader societal responsibilities, highlighting the importance of honoring the late President Trần Đức Lương. This decision aligns Vietnamese football operations with state guidelines and national values.

VPF has urged clubs and match organizers to promptly update and communicate the adjusted schedules to teams, media, and fans.
